Two Phoenix-area brothers are spending their summer working on their golf game, but they’re nowhere near a golf course. Instead, they’re scoring a hole, and beating the heat, from the comfort of their own living room.

Dominic Lobracco, also known as “The Nooch” in Noochie Golf, is credited with getting the ball rolling after an afternoon of mini golf.

“We liked it so much, that we got home and we started building golf courses out of puzzle boxes,” he said.

Puzzle boxes and pop bottles were just the beginning for the budding golf course builders. So Dom and his older brother, Tre, put aside their Legos, and set to work on a bigger project with the help of their dad, Sal LoBracco.

“We wanted something to do without burning to death outside,” Tre said. “So we made this, so that we can play indoors.”

In time, the old puzzle boxes became more like puzzle pieces. The boys engineered the synthetic grass, putting pieces for quick set-up and a variety of configurations. Each one, a little more challenging than the previous layout.

JoAnn LoBracco, the boys’ mom, is happy her family found a way to sink those summer blues.

“I love the idea that they were able to still play golf, still kind of being active,” she said. “They’re off the couch, they’re running around, picking the pieces up, putting them together.”
